It all began on November 16, 1947 with the Resolution of the USSR government on the construction of the Gorky Hydroelectric Power Station. From the same time, the settlement began, which later became the city of the Volga region. To provide the construction site with building materials, by order of GORKOVGESSTROY, a woodworking enterprise was organized on the banks of the Volga River. At first, it looked little like a factory - the delivered machines were placed in hastily knocked together wooden cases.

At the end of 1948, a railway was built to the regional center - the city of Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod). After that, active equipping and development of the plant began. The favorable location was due to the large loading of the enterprise with raw materials. Round lumber obtained by timber rafting along the Volga remained the most efficient way of transportation until the early 70s. Zavolzhsky DOZ was actively involved in many construction projects of that time as part of the industry association "Glavvolgovyatskstroy". The enterprise was engaged in sawing round timber, production of molded products, production of windows and doors.

On November 14, 1967, within the framework of the economic reform of the 60s, the Zavolzhsky DOZ (Woodworking Plant No. 3) received its Charter and the right of economic independence within the framework of the Stroydetal trust. By this time, it was already a large enterprise, which included a sawmill and round timber processing areas, a joinery production of windows and doors. The volume of raw materials processing is up to 2 railway cars per day.

In 1972, at the Zavolzhsky Woodworking Plant, a plywood shop was put into operation, producing construction plywood of the FK brand, veneer, furniture, elastic elements. At first, the shop, which was being built by a self-employed method, grew into a separate subdivision, which later played an important role in the life of the Plant. In 1990, the monthly production volume of Zavolzhsky DOZ No. 3 was:

  • Edged and unedged timber - up to 3000 m3
  • Windows (window and balcony blocks) - 4000 m2
  • Panel doors and sill boards - more than 5000 pieces
  • Plywood FK - 250 m3
  • Construction formwork - n / a.
  • Plinth, Platband and other molded products - more than 1,000,000 running meters.

In 1992, the enterprise was reorganized into the Closed Joint Stock Company Zavolzhsky Woodworking Plant (ZDOZ): the production was modernized, a checkpoint was organized, part of the shops was redesigned.

It should be noted that in the Soviet years the main specialization of the enterprise was the production of joinery for the construction of social and cultural buildings. With the beginning of the 90s, Schools, Hospitals, Kindergartens and other public buildings practically ceased to be built. The distribution of orders from the center has stopped. As well as stopped the central funding. Therefore, Zavolzhsky DOZ faced the need to reorganize production and look for new markets for its products. Maybe it is this ability to survive in the most difficult conditions that helps the team of the enterprise to this day.

The main two product lines at that time were the assembly of residential buildings with wooden windows and the production of plywood. The enterprise directed its resources on the development of these areas. The area of supply of the company's products has spread from Belgorod to Vladivostok.

In 2001, two lines were launched, equipped with modern equipment from German and Italian firms for the production of wooden windows of various brands and sections.

In 2004-2005, on the basis of the small series workshop, a separate direction was organized: the production of wooden euro-windows of varying complexity for individuals. The initial specialization of individual production made it possible to fulfill the most complex and non-standard customer orders. Our company was one of the first in Russia to use the combined timber technology in the production of wooden euro-windows. In the production of such windows, precious woods are used in one of the lamellas.

Individual wooden windows produced by Zavolzhsky DOZ have been repeatedly noted at exhibitions in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan.

In 2005, on the basis of the operating artel of carvers, a separate production of carved decorative elements, complex door and staircase elements from various types of wood was formed, which, together with an individual carpentry production site, also allows the production of elite front doors and wooden stairs.

2006 year. Having analyzed the current trends in woodworking, the company enters the wooden housing market. I must say that ZAVDOZ had previously attempted to develop sets of panel houses, but at that time the garden houses did not have a commercial prospect and served rather to meet the demand of local residents. Now, having extensive experience in installing Euro-windows in wooden cottages, communicating with customers, analyzing the pros and cons of all technologies, we have deliberately chosen the technology behind which is the future of wooden construction and low-rise construction in general.

Initially, when making a decision, the focus was on the issue of quality, the ability to control the construction of a turnkey house, and the durability of the structure. Raw materials (cylindering and profiled massive timber) were rejected immediately or for questionable quality guarantees during operation and the inability to control the process of putting the house into operation. The situation when a house is being built, and then left "for shrinkage" could not suit us, since in such conditions it is impossible to organize a full-fledged quality control. One of the most important tasks was to ensure quality and preserve the company's reputation in the long term.

That is why the direction was chosen - Glued Lumber Houses. The house-building shop is launched. At first, the workshop works only within the framework of the Nizhny Novgorod region, developing construction technology. All the first houses must undergo preliminary assembly at the enterprise, all complex aspects of the technology of building houses from Glued Lumber are collected and analyzed.

In the same 2006, the drying facility was completely re-equipped - drying chambers with automatic control manufactured by KATRES (Czech Republic) were put into operation.

In 2007-2008, the plywood shop was reconstructed, which allows doubling the output of plywood and birch veneer.

In 2011-2012. - Restart of the house building workshop. The original experimental equipment was completely replaced by imported automatic lines. The capacity of the new workshop is up to 600 m3 per month. This is about 5-15 house sets of various sizes.

The ceremonial launch of the opening of the new workshop on February 21, 2012 was made by the Minister of Construction of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Chelomin Vladimir Nikolaevich.

The equipment used is imported, at the time of launch, the most modern in the world. The new modern workshop allows the production of glued laminated timber with a thickness of up to 310 mm and a height of up to 360 mm, which meets the requirements of any climatic zone. An automatic German optimizer built into the standard house building technology allows the production of Knock-free Premium Beams. And the accumulated experience in woodworking allows us to produce glued laminated timber from any species of wood, including combining them in one product. The head equipment of this workshop is an automatic cup-cutting machine and a Krusi CMI-4 × 4 (Switzerland).

In 2014, the Zavolzhsky DOZ Construction Company opened its first office in the north of Moscow. This is a full-fledged two-story demonstration model that allows Muscovites to be convinced of the quality of our products.

In the same year, the reform of the enterprise was initiated. With the participation of foreign partners, the plant, a construction company and a number of foreign companies were transformed into the ZAVDOZ Group of Companies.

At the end of 2016, another production unit of the group is organized. Now the total production capacity of house kits is more than 1200m3 per month. Some of the products are supplied to partners abroad in the Czech Republic, Germany, Cyprus.

At the beginning of 2017, a new office showroom Moscow-South was launched. During its design and construction, accumulated technologies and a number of new materials were used.

The company also has its own constitution .
